Planning

Planning service
Yes
How the planning service works
Our automation tooling runs the latest Microsoft Data Migration Assessment tooling against a Microsoft SQL server estate assessing the readiness of instances and databases to move to a chosen target edition of SQL server, most commonly this is the Azure SQL service. This provides a rich view of feature parity and unsupported features between the sources and targets allowing the creation of a readiness assessment and remediation plan for moving to the target version.

Custom scripts are then run against every server to have a deeper look at the SQL server internal objects looking at things such as (but not limited to):
• Enterprise feature usage
• CPU usage
• Memory usage
• Disk & page file usage
• AlwaysON & clustering usage
• System and Mirroring endpoints
This additional data provides a clearer perspective on the environment than just the SQL instance and database level allowing the creation of a sizing plan of the target environment. If the customer has good historical performance data this will typically be included in our analysis. The output of the assessment is typically a single high-quality document (with associated data sheets and PowerBI reports) created incrementally with the customer to meet their needs.
