- End-of-contract data extraction
- The EDB Postgres solution sits within the buyers infrastructure of choice. They have their own licence for the use of the deployed software and control the ownership and management of the data contained within. Data can be extracted in a wide variety of formats including: Postgres, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL, Hadoop, CSV and user defined custom formats. This will allow the buyer to port their data to alternative program venues as needed. A variety of extract techniques include: native database dump/restore, native replication to a new database, heterogeneous replication to another database and expert by a large number of 3rd party tools.
- End-of-contract process
- The buyer controls the management of the software and is in complete control of the processes should they decide not to renew licences at the end of the contract. Data needs to be extracted prior to contract ending. EDB can provide professional services at extra cost to help with the transition between solutions. These services are outlined in the attached service description document and are listed under the Cloud Services category.

EDB Postgres Enterprise is built around EDB Postgres Advanced Server - enhanced version of PostgresSQL that adds additional security, performance tools, Developer productivity tools, DBA productivity tools and Oracle compatibility.
The database is bundled with management, monitoring, tuning, high availability, disaster recovery, replication and migration tools to customize the adoption of Postgres in large enterprises with mission critical applications to specific requirements.
The database and tools is designed to be deployed in any cloud infrastructure of choice. The database can be customised to address all varieties of applications including transaction oriented, read mostly/only, mixed or specialized for document or key-value processing.
A wide variety of extensions can be added to the database to give it additional capabilities such as best in class geo-spatial processing, logical replication, backup and restore capabilities and more. The database includes a replication tool that can exchange data with other Postgres, Oracle, and SQL Server databases. Additional data adapters connect to MongoDB, MySQL and Hadoop data allowing for custom integrations of data throughout the enterprise for 360 degree views of key data sets.
Scaling
- Independence of resources
- The EDB Postgres solution sits within the buyers cloud infrastructure of choice. All cloud instances for EDB solutions are private instances and respect the isolation and processing independence such instances are afforded by the cloud infrastructure provider. EDB Postgres instances are not shared with other users outside of those authorized by the buyer.
