Who the specialist will work with
Internal Service creation staff, 3rd party contractors, internal stakeholders.

The IT Service Creation team in DVLA includes Technical Product Managers, Agile Delivery Managers, Delivery Managers, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Software Engineers and Infrastructure Engineers.
What the specialist will work on
DVLA require a specialist Environmental manager to work as part of the ITS Service Creation team. The person will assist in the standing up and scheduling of test environments in line with the needs of the development teams on a complex hybrid legacy and Cloud estate.

We currently see this role as sitting outside of IR35, as the candidates would not hold a fixed office position and will not have direct day to day direction or supervision.

Essential skills and experience
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over a period of 10 or more years in delivering environmental provisioning management at pace (with particular interest in management of cloud based technologies).
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over a period of 5 or more years showing extensive knowledge of Test Environment Management methodologies, test practices and toolsets (specifically Apwide GoLive).
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over 3 or more years of SDLC, configuration, change, release, problem, incident, service management methodologies (incorporating where possible ServiceNow, Clear Case/ Clear Quest, Drone, Spinnaker).
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over 10 or more years of working with enterprise systems like OracleDB, Oracle Weblogic, Message Broker.
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over 10 or more years working with IBM AIX Operating Systems inc HACMP, Microsoft Windows based platforms Technologies, IBM ZCloud Mainframe, Cloud Based Technologies (AWS/Azure)
  • Have demonstrable evidence and experience over 5 or more years showing extensive knowledge of network topologies, network architectures and security principles in use within government and enterprise sized environments.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Evidence and experience over a period of 3 or more years of working in a successful agile delivery environment.
  • Provide a minimum of 1 example of the ability to advise, influence and provide governance for the use test environments.
  • Provide a minimum of 1 example of working closely with development and testing team in the construction and delivery of large scale projects.
  • Provide a minimum of 1 example of helping Dev/Test teams resolve various issues related to environments, builds, application and functioning.
