- Who the specialist will work with
- Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team with responsibility to provide data to operational sites and colleagues to allow them to track, understand and improve operational performance. Types of roles that are included in this team are full stack web developers, Data Engineers, Java Software Engineers, UX designers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, BI reporting Analysts
- What the specialist will work on

Lead multi-disciplinary team delivering complex products in tight timescales providing technical leadership to build data exploitation capability.
Implement Scrum/Kanban methodologies as necessary and manage a number of varied stakeholders.
Ensure that technical decisions are sensible and that roadmaps align with user expectations.
Lead show-and-tells, present at senior stakeholder groups and executive steering committees.
Ensure that Developers implement best practice and modern approaches and techniques are applied
Outline data and analytics best practice and advise analyst users and their managers.
Develop ideas and design projects in: Predictive analytics, Experimental design, Advanced Data Visualisation, Dashboard design, Data Governance and Big Data
Work setup
- Address where the work will take place
- Caxton House, Tothill St, London
- Working arrangements
- 5 days a week on-site working as part of a multi-disciplinary agile delivery team with work being specified by a work management system (JIRA). You will attend daily Town Halls, Stand-ups and relevant Show & Tells to monitor/discuss progress.
- Security clearance
- All resources must be Baseline Personnel Security Standard compliant or equivalent, and be prepared to undergo the clearance process to at least Security Check level. Baseline Personnel Security Standard guidance can be found via the DWP eTendering system (see additional terms and conditions).

- Deep Knowledge of Agile methodologies - Scrum and Kanban
- Prior Experience of leadership of a varied team of Software and Data Engineers
- Knowledge and understanding of Data Visualisation technologies such as D3, javascript, SAP Business Objects and understanding of visualisation best practice
- Experience of delivering complex Data Projects under tight deadlines and close stakeholder scrutiny
- Stakeholder management of a large group of diverse stakeholders
- Understanding of Data Governance best practice
- Prior experience of delivering advanced analytics projects involving personalisation, risk analytics etc. including techniques such as machine learning and segmentation
- Experience as a JIRA Administrator
- Understanding of big data technologies (Hadoop, Mongo) and semi structured data formats such as JSON
- Experience working with DWP or similar organisation in the last 3 years.
- Nice-to-have skills and experience
- Hands on experience of coding languages such as SQL and R.
