Comms/Marketing Services during JSaRC set-up in order to inform government, industry and academia of the broad opportunities that JSaRC offers and source opportunities for JSaRC to take the lead in delivering relevant security projects. Promote and generate interest in JSaRC events, which will include Conferences, exhibitions, events and technology demonstrations.

Who the specialist will work with
JSaRC consists of a small project team made up of civil servants and industry secondees.
What the specialist will work on
1. Communications and marketing strategy for 2018.
2. Continued implementation of the comms and marketing strategy and tactical plans.
3. High quality communications and marketing material for JSaRC at specific events.
4. Development, establishment and maintenance of JSaRC’s web presence and online communities
5. Replacement of JSaRC CRM database.
6. Content Development and delivery.
7. JSaRC brand management.
8. Government, industry and academic collaboration.
9. Promote and generate interest in JSaRC events, which will include JSaRC led events and JSaRC technology demonstrations.

Work setup

Address where the work will take place
The team will be based in Cambridge, with travel required to London and other parts of the UK.
Working arrangements
The team will be based in Cambridge. The expectation is that regular face to face contact is maintained for the majority of the week, with flexibility for the remainder of the time.
Regular UK travel for Events and meetings is expected. Expenses will be paid under the Home Office Expenses Policy.
Security clearance
Minimum SC Security clearance, as individual will be accessing material up to Secret.
Applicants may start prior to clearance being verified. The successful candidate will be expected to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement.

1. Is there a current incumbent?
Yes, there is an incumbent undertaking this role, who's current contract is due to expire.
2. Have Home Office completed an IR35 assessment of this task using HMRC’s ESS tool? If so, please can you confirm whether it is INSIDE or OUTSIDE of legislation?
The incumbent role was recently assessed as being OUTSIDE IR35.
3. Could the candidate be based 3 days in London 2 in Cambridge or is it work dependent so sometimes it would only be one day in the office etc?
There are five expos that we contribute to a year plus other events we support which are held nationally so the role will be work dependant. However, the role for now is London based with the team, until the Cambridge site is finalised. The team base will then move to Cambridge permanently. The post holder will still travel to London but the split is likely to be 3 days in Cambridge and 1 day in London at the most.
4. Does this role fall within the IR35?
The incumbent role was recently assessed as being OUTSIDE IR35.
5. Are you the end client putting the consultant through SC clearance or is the consultant expected to hold SC already?
Ideally we would like someone who has SC clearance already. We are willing to put a successful candidate through the clearance process but the delay will result in the actual work being slowed down as there are number of documents that can’t be viewed or handled without the appropriate clearance. This will be considered for the right candidate.
6. When will the move to Cambridge be taking place?
This is being finalised. We expect it to be around Mid-July 2017.
7. Can a candidate with DV clearance be considered for this role ?
Yes, the minimum level of clearance is SC.
8. What is the lead time for feedback once the application is submitted?
We expect to feed back within 1 week of the applications closing. Dependant on the number of applications, they may take slightly longer.

10. What are the other expenses which will be paid?
Travel expenses will be paid from the base location for business travel.
11. What are the exact work locations?
London – Home Office building in Marsham Street
Cambridge – Fulbourn. About 10 minutes from the Cambridge town centre.
Noting that travel will be required UK wide.

Yes, working from home or any other remote working will be allowed.
