- Description of your participants

We are looking to recruit participants who are considering and/or are involved moving/trading goods across borders, namely:
1. Carriers: e.g. ship freight, air freight, road haulage, train haulage firms.
2. Agents: e.g. custom clearing agents/brokers, freight forwarders, logistic companies, etc.
3. Other operators at the border: these can include bonded warehouses, fulfilment centres, software providers, community service providers, etc.
4. Traders: we are looking for small, medium and large traders (e.g. manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, engineering companies, etc) who have:
a.Little to no import or export experience.
b. EU only traders
c. Traders who complete their own custom declaration
d. Traders who outsource customer declaration
e. Individuals who import/export goods for personal use
5.Assisted Digital Users: if possible from the groups above or can be a proxy participant.
6.Participant with Access Needs: if possible from the groups above or can be a proxy participant) to use an assistive technology (screen reader, voice, screen magnification, etc) and have at least one of the recognised access needs (dyslexia, physical impairment, visual or hearing impairment, etc). - Assisted digital and accessibility requirements

- Research location
- Our research will be conducted with participants across the UK and will also include international participants in the not so distant future. Due to COVID, these sessions will be conducted remotely, however will extend to participant's home/places of work/business when restrictions ease.

Skills and experience
Buyers will use the essential and nice-to-have skills and experience to help them evaluate suppliers’ technical competence.

- Proven experience in recruiting participants for user research.
- Evidence of a variety of recruitment methods, both digital and non-digital.
- A high volume of on the ground field agents across the UK.
- Some bespoke field agents (not commonly used across all other agencies).
- Experience recruiting Assisted Digital participants with low digital literacy, confidence etc.
- Experience recruiting people for niche projects.
- Experience recruiting participants with specific accessibility needs or requirements.
- Experience of recruiting people for research ethically and sensitively.
- Have the ability to work to short deadlines.

- Experience managing recruitment for multiple research projects across a large department with multiple researchers.
- Experience recruiting participants who operate in international trade and within the customs space.
How suppliers will be evaluated
All suppliers will be asked to provide a written proposal.

- Proposal criteria

- Sign off the brief (Project specification and create screener) within 2 working days of receipt.
- Provide research session participants within a maximum of 10 working days from receipt of brief (longer can be arranged with advance negotiation – if unachievable, we need 48 hours’ notice).
- Provide participant list to the User researcher 48 hours prior to the research session already agreed with the user researcher and if doing overseas recruitment be aware of time differences.
- For contextual/lab based research be able to recruit within reasonable distance of our offices or areas specified by the User Researcher.
- Provide translator and sign language interpreter details to the User Researcher 48 hours prior to the research session, if applicable.
- Provide participants matching the essential criteria specified. Where unachievable a credit should be made against fee charged. Give clear explanation of difficulties so the brief can be relaxed if appropriate.
- Service to include distribution of incentives except when user is a no show/session cannot proceed due to technical difficulties on the part of participant when no incentive will be paid.
- Responding to reasonable changes in specification from one wave to the next, potentially at reasonable short notice.
