Questions asked by suppliers

Questions asked by suppliers
Supplier question Buyer answer
1. Can you confirm if you are already working with a supplier in this area and if so who are they? No - the existing platform was developed in-house.
2. "Can you please clarify this essential skill as the words don't quite make sense:

""Code – the code used for the current website is ASP.NET and C#. The website uses MVC Model. Must be able familiar with these languages.""
Does this mean the website must be created in ASP.NET/C#, or does it mean that the development must follow an MVC model but could be delivered using a different language and framework?
"
.Net and C# would be preferable as well as an MVC model but there is flexbility. A basic understanding of .Net, C# and MVC will likely be necessary in order to effectively migrate the data from the exisiting platform and replicate any exisiting functionality.
3. "1. What CMS is currently in use?
2. Do you wish to stay with your current CMS or would you consider other options?
"
The current site has various backend user forms and functions to enable the Careers Hub team to add content and manage administrative functions and communication. We would be open to options here but would want to migrate exisiting data and ensure that most current functionality is replicated.
4. The coding of the website requested is ASP.net & C#. Is there any latitude on the code used for the delivery of this project such as PHP? .Net and C# would be preferable as well as an MVC model but there is flexbility. A basic understanding of .Net, C# and MVC will likely be necessary in order to effectively migrate the data from the exisiting platform and replicate any exisiting functionality.
5. "1. Which version of ASP.NET?
2. Which version of C#?
3. Any JS frameworks used on the front end?
4. What is your current deployment process and what is the hosting set up?
5. Will this stay the same or will the refresh have scope for change here?
6. Details on the current database set up?
7. Any specific APIs in use?
8. Is there a cache strategy in the application?
9. Application server set up?
"
"[Assume question relates to current deployment]
1. .Net 4.5
2. Latests Major Version
3. Jquery
4. Deployment to Azure server
5. Would prefer to remain on Azure as will reduce costs but could consider other options
6. Not sure what the question refer to
7. Google Maps API
8. Unknown
9. Unknown
"
6. The requirements mention the need for a familiarity with ASP.NET and C# – is this because you would prefer to stick with this tech stack for the redevelopment, or is this requirement just to support the transition and would you be open to other tech stacks for the redevelopment? .Net and C# would be preferable as well as an MVC model but there is flexbility. A basic understanding of .Net, C# and MVC will likely be necessary in order to effectively migrate the data from the exisiting platform and replicate any exisiting functionality.
7. "Can you elaborate on the proposed internships:
• What course/s are the interns are studying?
• Are they to be engaged on the project?
• what are the dates of the internships?
"
"1. Variety of options from Salford Business School (https://www.salford.ac.uk/business-school) are available - possibilities might include Business Management, Communications
2. Yes - potentially supporting content development although we are interested to hear how they might be included in your plans
3. To be determined after tender conclusion"
8. "They asked:
In the Nice To Have section, it says 'Host 3 students' – is this short for 'Host 3 student websites'?
"
The intention is for student interns from a local university to be hosted for a 3 month period in order to support elements of the delivery of the project. They do not necessarily need to be working as junior devs and could focus on any element of the work such as content development. The intention is that we will provide funding for their pay but they will be managed by the supplier.
9. what do you mean by hosting 3x students? Does this constitute the management of a team of junior developers employed by NHS to assist in the delivery of the solution, managed by the successful partner? The intention is for student interns from a local university to be hosted for a 3 month period in order to support elements of the delivery of the project. They do not necessarily need to be working as junior devs and could focus on any element of the work such as content development. The intention is that we will provide funding for their pay but they will be managed by the supplier.
10. Is the required work to extend the existing solution or is this a re-build, using the existing solution as a point of reference? Both options are available. We do want to retain the exisiting data but require additional functionality as well as an overhual of the front-end and user experience.
11. Does the current website use a content management system? Or is it a bespoke ASP.NET application? Bespoke application developed in-house, the system has various backend user forms and functions to enable the team to add content and manage administrative functions and communication.
