Availability and resilience
- Guaranteed availability
- The Symantec Endpoint Protection Cloud data center is delivered and deployed through Amazon Web Services (AWS) EC2 Cloud, providing flexibility, availability and scalability. Our service status site provides transparency around service availability and performance for Symantec cloud products. By subscribing to the Symantec Status website, customers can be alerted of service issues outages and informed of scheduled maintenance to Symantec's cloud products, in a single view. The availability and performance of the service can be viewed via the portal below: Symantec Status Cloud Product : https://status.symantec.com/
- Approach to resilience
- The service is running within a top tier cloud provider environment, which is designed be resilient. Each critical component of the service can be failed over to other nodes in the infrastructure. The failover process is automatic, triggered by specific service monitoring infrastructure. Backups of production systems are taken daily and prior to any major upgrade or Symantec initiated configuration change. Backups are stored in an encrypted format and allow, in the event of a disaster, the creation of a replica environment. Disaster recovery scenarios are tested periodically by the Symantec operations team.
- Outage reporting
- Via Email alerts, dashboards the Symantec service status web page. Email - Recieve email notifications whenever an incident is created or updated. SMS - Receive SMS notifications whenever an incident is created or updated. WebHook - Notifications are HTTPS POST requests that are sent to registered endpoints. For more information see Symantec Status Page Webhook Notifications. Twitter - Follow @SymantecStatus on Twitter for an automated feed of impacting incidents. RSS/Atom - Get the Atom Feed or RSS Feed on each of the product profile pages. Subscribing to Symantec Status INFO4285 March 26th, 2019 https://www.symantec.com/docs/INFO4285
