End-of-contract data extraction
Not a concern. Alteryx does not actually store or hold any data within the application itself. As such, when the contract ends, Alteryx will cease to perform any prep/blend/ETL/ELT/analytical/output processes that it had been tasked with.
End-of-contract process
No additional costs. Users will no longer have access to the Alteryx application (unless a valid licence key is entered) and all processes performed by Alteryx will cease.

Service interface
What users can and can't do using the API
Alteryx is a platform designed to connect, blend, prep, cleanse, automate, discover, model, analyse, and output data. As such, there are an enormous number of APIs built to connect the service to all sorts of systems and locations, legacy or otherwise.
Alteryx itself has a number of APIs, which are heavily documented within the Alteryx community.

API documentation formats
API sandbox or test environment
Customisation available
Description of customisation
Alteryx is itself a customisable workflow, allowing users to connect to multiple sources, blend, manipulate, analyse and output data in any way they see fit. This is done using a drag & drop interface that requires no programming skills.

Additionally, the Alteryx user interface is itself customisable, by all licensed users. Windows can be moved, re-sized, reorganised, or closed.

To customise the layout of the user interface, click & hold the left mouse button to grab a window. When you drag the window arrows appear on the top, sides, and centre of the user interface. When you slide the window over the arrows a "shadow" of the window displays, indicating the size and location where it will move.

Independence of resources
Each user would be given an Alteryx Designer licence which is independently installed on the user's machine. In terms of hosting, we have broad experience in configuring infrastructure in order to suit Alteryx. We would work with the buyer to assess demand and resilience in order to assure Alteryx isn't affected by the demand of other users, whether that be load balancing or physically separate instances (for example). The server load-balances and queues accordingly if core/RAM are going to be overloaded. This is automatic.

Service usage metrics
Metrics types
Each individual Alteryx workflow component can have it's own timing and performance monitoring data and this can be made available to both users and administrators.
Reporting types
  • API access
  • Real-time dashboards
  • Reports on request

Protecting data at rest
Other data at rest protection approach
Bulien do not store data at rest. Data would only be at rest within the buyer's own environment, whether that be on prem or private/public cloud. Alteryx processes in RAM, and so no physical data is contained within Alteryx at rest. Once it is closed the cache is cleared and no data remains.
Data sanitisation process
Data sanitisation type
  • Explicit overwriting of storage before reallocation
  • Deleted data can’t be directly accessed
Equipment disposal approach
A third-party destruction service

Data importing and exporting

Data export approach
Alteryx is a data processing and analytics tool that uses drag & drop icons to import, manipulate and export data. Users would simply drag on the Output tool, configure the options below then run the workflow. Data can be exported to an extremely wide variety of locations including directly to file, BI applications like Qlik/PowerBI/Tableau, tech partners like DataRobot, SQL server, Hadoop, Oracle, ODBC, OleDB, Amazon Redshift, ESRI... etc. etc. Alteryx can also be used to populate data warehouses or export to file types like: excel, CSV, json, HTML, SQL, tde, .slv .ss .qvx, XML , SOAP plus others

Data-in-transit protection

Data protection between buyer and supplier networks
  • Private network or public sector network
  • Other
Other protection between networks
We would install Alteryx within the buyer's network, not our own.
Data protection within supplier network
Other protection within supplier network
The Alteryx application will be installed directly onto the public sector network, accessed by users independently, and therefore not require any additional protection. Access can be restricted at user level. If the buyer wishes for cloud infrastructure to be supplied, we can supply and would protect data as per individual requirements.

Availability and resilience

Guaranteed availability
As Alteryx would be installed within the buyer's network or cloud infrastructure, there is no reliance on external networks or systems provided by Bulien. The Alteryx SLA is defined within the End User License Agreement (EULA).
Approach to resilience
Available on request.
Outage reporting
Alteryx is installed independently on user machines so there would be no central outages other than those caused by compatibility. Bulien offer full testing services for any Alteryx updates.

Identity and authentication

User authentication needed
User authentication
  • Public key authentication (including by TLS client certificate)
  • Identity federation with existing provider (for example Google Apps)
  • Limited access network (for example PSN)
  • Dedicated link (for example VPN)
  • Username or password
Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels
Dependent upon specific client requirements but, at the very least, by Alteryx licence key. Users can also be assigned to studios or districts which contain workflows to which they have been granted access. This is a way of grouping users by security clearance.
Access restriction testing frequency
At least once a year
Management access authentication
  • Public key authentication (including by TLS client certificate)
  • Identity federation with existing provider (for example Google Apps)
  • Limited access network (for example PSN)
  • Dedicated link (for example VPN)
  • Username or password

Security governance

Named board-level person responsible for service security
Security governance certified
Security governance approach
We adhere to an internal Information Security Management Policy based upon the requirements defined within ISO 27001.
Information security policies and processes
As well as any standards imposed by the buyer, we adhere to an internal Information Security Management Policy based on security requirements defined within ISO 27001.
We restrict access to information unless there is an agreed and undeniable requirement for user access. Access is documented and granted for the duration of the exercise and no longer. Partners, employees and contractors (where applicable) are required to commit to compliance with our ISMP before access to any restricted information is even considered.

Operational security

Configuration and change management standard
Supplier-defined controls
Configuration and change management approach
Bulien utilise a configuration & change management process agreed in advance with the buyer. We appoint a Change Committee comprising of both buyer and supplier members. We offer development cycles (functional and non-functional testing) in a dedicated test environment. Once approved via internal quality assurance, we release for user acceptance testing and then schedule risk-managed promotion to the live environment.
Vulnerability management type
Vulnerability management approach
Bulien actively manage, monitor & enforce security policies and associated procedures. As Alteryx is typically installed within the buyer's existing infrastructure, Bulien offer a review of that infrastructure to assess vulnerability and suitability. We assess potential threat reported by our suppliers, clients as well as our antivirus provider. Additionally, we work with a specialist third party who has expertise in vulnerability management.
Protective monitoring type
Protective monitoring approach
We work with third parties who specialise in protective monitoring. Please contact us for more details.
Incident management type
Incident management approach
We use an email ticketing service whereby clients raise and track incidents to resolution. We supply hands-on guidance to resolve issues and assist our clients in understanding the issue so that they can resolve independently in the future. We regularly review processes to assess frequency a& propensity of issues and prepare documentation to remedy going forward.
