Onboarding and offboarding

Onboarding and offboarding
Getting started Whilst comprehensive documentation and training materials are plenty and available free of charge through the internet, we generally recommend buyers purchase a small number of consulting and training days to get a fast ROI on the software. This would typically include the development of an initial report or dashboard requirement, designed to be a high-quality showcase of the capabilities of the service and serve as a source for reverse engineering and learning for future projects, as well as classroom-based training complete with manuals and electronic content.

Following this initial engagement, many of our customers become self sufficient and only call upon our services for occasional support or for help kicking off a new project. We are also able to offer more comprehensive services to build a whole suite of reports, help develop internal capabilities through continuous improvement training and build of a Centre of Excellence.

Independence of resources The Alteryx hybrid-cloud Server has a task scheduler which in turn sends tasks based on a schedule to the Controller. The Alteryx Service Controller is responsible for the management of the service settings and the delegation of work to the Alteryx Service Workers. It also takes requests from the gallery and routes them to workers or the Mongo Database where metadata and information about workflows, connections and macros are stored.

Availability and resilience

Availability and resilience
Guaranteed availability This question is not relevant to the Alteryx hybrid-cloud server as we do not host the customer's data or make a service available to the customer.
Approach to resilience Alteryx hybrid cloud server is designed around several processes that manage availability, and tasks running on the server. The controller centrally manages the timing and orchestration of activities queuing jobs when demand is high. It can also be configured in a high availability configuration across multiple servers.
Outage reporting Alteryx server has an API for extracting the server status.

Identity and authentication

Identity and authentication
User authentication needed Yes
User authentication
  • 2-factor authentication
  • Public key authentication (including by TLS client certificate)

Access restrictions in management interfaces and support channels Access restriction depend on client requirements, but can include a range of authentication and control mechanisms as needed. Alteryx allows you to manage permissions on a per user and group basis. Both levels of control allow you to define 4 broad roles that define the activities a user might need based on their level of access. These are described as Curators ( admin level access), Artisans (Can publish, run, and share workflow), Viewers (who can run workflows) and users who explicitly have no access. These roles are applied to specific Areas of Alteryx.

Operational security

Operational security
Configuration and change management standard Supplier-defined controls
Configuration and change management approach At The Information Lab we implement a formal blueprint process and pre-agree a statement of work. Development cycles including functional and non-functional testing in a dedicated test environment. Once approved via Internal QA Process, we release for user acceptance testing and then schedule risk-managed promotion to the live environment.
Vulnerability management type Supplier-defined controls
Vulnerability management approach The Alteryx Security team cares deeply about the security of their products and the data that our customers entrust to them. Alteryx will thoroughly investigate any reported vulnerability that jeopardises either. Once a vulnerability is fully investigated and its content addressed, Alteryx and The Information Lab will work with you to disclose the vulnerability in a way that acknowledges your work and protects our customers.
Protective monitoring type Supplier-defined controls
Protective monitoring approach In relation to Alteryx hybrid-cloud Server, there is no specific Protective Monitoring standard in place. Customers who implement the Alteryx hybrid-cloud Server are encouraged to ensure the implementation and security infrastructure are aligned with any internal policies and regulations.
