Differences between the mobile and desktop service The service can either be accessed through a mobile web browser or via our mobile app (iOS and Android). When using the mobile web browser, one gets the same functionality as the desktop service. When using the native app certain functionality, such as the application flowmaps and tier and node level dashboards, are not shown.

What users can and can't do using the API AppDynamics has comprehensive controller side and agent side APIs. These lets the users configure the service, monitor, query the metrics and event analytics data as well as to control and configure the agents running on the application servers.

Description of customisation Users can configure and customise the monitoring of the applications, can create and update their dashboards and alerts. Extensions to the service can be created by users to monitor additional IT components.

Independence of resources For SaaS deployments: AppDynamics is highly scalable and not affected by the number of users but by the number of agents (licenses) deployed in the infrastructure. Provisioning of resources is taken care of by AppDynamics to guarantee that users are not impacted.

For on-premises deployments: AppDynamics scales horizontally and vertically.
