Planning service
How the planning service works
Understanding business context is key to determining how to best approach the design or re-engineering of cloud-based business processes. BAE Systems’ Process Design service provides our customers with an end-to-end approach to process management, applying data-driven tools, and techniques such as BPMN and UML, to build our understanding of operational performance, rather than relying on perceptions and ‘received wisdom’. We work to systematically document existing processes; identifying bottlenecks, redundancies, risks and responsibilities and how people, systems and products currently fit together. We explicitly recognise that the introduction of new technologies such as cloud systems and services necessitates a re-examination of existing processes as roles and responsibilities will shift with the new delivery model. This will impact processes, procedures and interfaces, both for the business owning the process, as well as the individual teams and staff operating them. When designing new processes or changing existing processes, we will clearly define and articulate process objectives and quantify expected improvements (time, cost, quality), maintaining clear traceability back to mapped business requirements. We also work to ensure that the planning of new or changed processes acknowledges the importance of maintaining continuity of service or ‘business as usual’ during the transition to cloud-based operations.
