A Discovery phase will review the as-is environments and/or new requirements assessing their suitability for AWS. Moortec will then propose full AWS or hybrid AWS / On-Premises solutions that best meets the customer’s needs, realise business benefits and hit desired timescales, in the form of an Outline Transition Plan that will illustrate how the AWS services will be delivered using an appropriate mix of templated and bespoke hosting solution designs, and connectivity solutions.
The Outline Transition Plan will typically cover:
A proof of concept / prototyping exercise to demonstrate fit with AWS, if there are any concerns about the suitability of legacy technology.
The production of a Detailed Transition Plan, covering the individual development, test, and production environments, and the different security models that might apply to each.
Network connectivity, utilising Internet, PSN, N3 or private connections as appropriate in combination with VPN solutions as required to achieve the required level of security.
Environment Build and QA in the form of Operational Readiness Testing.
Data Migration and Application cut-over.
Technical handover and training.
Warranty Support and cost optimisation period where resources are tuned to the operational workload by adjusting EC2 server sizes, auto-scaling rules and reserved instances (pre-paid servers). - Planning service works with specific services

Following the Planning phase Moortec will build the AWS or AWS / Hybrid On-Premises development, test, production and other environments identified. Wherever possible environments will be based upon existing templates, customised as necessary, and then new customer-specific templates defined so that environments can always be re-created using build tools.
Moortec supports AWS’s CloudFormation, Ansible, Terraform, Chef, and Puppet and will provide AWS infrastructure templates suitable for each, so that customer’s can create the entire application stack including application code with existing tools, if required.
Moortec can also supply connectivity between the customer’s locations for private, Internet, Public Sector Network (PSN) and N3 (healthcare) network connections, including a variety of Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
Moortec will also undertake comprehensive operational readiness testing of the environments prior to handover to applications development and operations team, and arrange for IT Health Checks (ITHC) / penetration tests as requested.
Moortec will also take responsibility for building and installing application code, and application configuration, schemas, etc. if installation software and/or guides are provided.
Moortec will migrate existing application data into the new AWS environments using networks or AWS Snowball technology. - Setup or migration service is for specific cloud services

Failover
Disaster Recovery
Application code deployments
IT Health-Checks including penetration tests
Performance Testing can be done through infrastructure load simulation, or via the application if available. This will:
Confirm and adjust compute resources sizing
Prove dynamic scalability facilities such as load balancers and autoscaling
Ensure there is headroom in non-dynamically adjustable resources like provisioned IOPS.
