Reliability and Availability Testing and Assurance

Ensure system reliability. Proactively tackle the problem of reliability, consistency and failure of operation of complex cloud or hybrid systems. Threat and risk analysis is used to identify key areas of interest(AOI). Blended, automated, AOI, general operation soak tests and endurance tests are used to evaluate the system.

Features

  • Testing designed to isolate 'random' failures
  • Testing the impact of different operating conditions
  • Test impacts of input and stored data characteristics
  • Grey box checking of system and data state
  • Grey box checking of interface operation
  • Automated transactional characteristics reliability testing
  • Automated transactional soak testing
  • Automated stress testing and endurance testing
  • Diagnosis of root cause of reliability and availability issues
  • Engineer led service, staffed with experienced technical experts

Benefits

  • Eliminate a testing blind spot, failures that are 'random'
  • Prevent 0.1% failure rates chaos on a busy day
  • Reduced data integrity decay due to partially successful transactions
  • Reduced effort and risk associated with in-service fixing of failures
  • Eliminate wasted time on 'ghost-defects', know what is unreliable
  • Crystallise issues whilst the solution is still under supplier warranty
  • Dependable ownership of objectives and of the quality champion remit
  • Problem management by experts avoids cosmetic and partial fixes

Pricing

£450 to £950 a person a day

  • Education pricing available

How the quality assurance and performance testing works
The service addresses the, often fraught, issue of the operational reliability and availability of complex cloud solutions. Replacement of monolithic systems with, often geographically dispersed, distributed systems introduced additional reliability and availability challenges. Often neglected during testing, these can be the Achille's Heel of a programme, delaying go-live and taking many months to tackle during early, problematic, live operation.

With a specific remit of searching for and then testing potential reliability and availability issues this service brings forward the visibility of such issues. Often brining things into the development period that would otherwise only be found in production.

Earlier visibility of these issues leads to better, more appropriate, fixing thus increasing system quality and user experience. It also prevents last minutes realisation that there are real issues derailing a projects run into production.
