How the planning service works Q Associates offer several Q Strategic Review Services (QSR), the Cloud Advisory QSR allows clients to understand their readiness for Cloud, covering organisational, IT mobility, Procedural Maturity, Application readiness, Security constraints, Governance and Regulatory requirements for cloud deployment.

Once the business analysis stage of the service is complete a solution design following a clearly defined methodology, assists clients to understand and group applications according to their cloud readiness. Outlining the key benefits, costs and risks that should be considered for each application deployment method whether Private, Public (Hyper scale, specialist, SaaS) or Hybrid cloud mode.

The solution design will outline where necessary specific cloud providers that meet the criteria of each application grouping, taking into consideration all factors relating to the application, with a specific emphasis on security, cost, sustainability, manageability and integration between the hybrid cloud services utilised.

Optionally the service can take a representative group of applications and assist the client to deploy into the various cloud providers identified within the QCAS reported categories. This approach provides the client with the knowledge & understanding to migrate additional applications into the cloud, between clouds or back into their private cloud infrastructure without requiring extensive assistance from Q Associates.

The service follows a clearly defined methodology that helps clients to understand and group applications according to their cloud readiness, outlining the key benefits, costs and risks that each application would receive running in either a Private, Public or Hybrid cloud mode.

Optionally the service can take a representative group of applications and assist the client to deploy into the various cloud providers identified within the QCAS reported categories. This approach provides the client with the knowledge & understanding to migrate additional applications into the cloud, between clouds or back into their private cloud infrastructure without requiring extensive assistance from Q Associates.

As we do not resell any specific cloud provider facilities, our cloud migration strategy is completely independent and also includes an exit strategy in the event the chosen provider service reduces or does not meet the evolving standards expected. For example, some services may provide access to software options that are expensive to support outside of the specific service providers’ solution and therefore may lead to unacceptable lock in.

How the quality assurance and performance testing works Q Associates determine both quality assurance and performance testing via a number of routes.

An initial check is on the cloud service itself, including accreditations and assurances and also the known track record in providing the service for other Clients. The next step is to determine the level of quality or service performance and how that is, or could be, quantified and measured. Through the life of the service, Q Associates looks to monitor, review and report the level of service with the constituent suppliers and the Client, to assure that the service contracted is being met and to recommend improvement actions.

Q Associates can provide test and acceptance strategy and testplans and test execution, including performance testing as part of a solution. The two aspects to this are test and acceptance against the requirements and typically against the product stated performance.
To do this an number of performance test applications can be used, or typically a set of Client provided test data, which is used to show eg dedupe rates, bandwidth, or speed of transfer.

Q Associates would normally also support the Clients User acceptance Tests.

How the support service works We offer a range of support services for OS, database and applications for clients moving into the cloud. Covering a wide range of vendor technologies from Oracle, IBM, Veritas, NetApp, VMware & CISCO where a client wishes to consume either IaaS or PaaS cloud services, whilst retaining their own software and application licences.

The service offers a 24x7 helpdesk facility to supplement the clients’ application and database teams. Ensuring that the cloud consumption model chosen by the client, along with the support services provided by Q Associates is appropriate their business requirements.

The service can be consumed in weekly, monthly or annual service credits with varying levels of SLA to suit the individual client requirements.
