Questions asked by suppliers

Questions asked by suppliers
Supplier question Buyer answer
1. These appear very similar to roles that were released earlier this year. Can the Authority confirm if these are additional requirements or if it's a re-release of the same roles due to not being filled previously ? This is a re-release of the same requirement as we were unable to fill the role.
2. Please can you confirm if there is an incumbent? There is no incumbent
3. Will the buyer sponsor the SC process, or must the consultant be SC cleared from day 1? As this assignment relates to Patient Data, work on this SOW cannot commence before SC is in place. We will accept candidates who do not currently have Security Clearance, but are willing to undertake Security Clearance before commencing the assignment. Please note however, that the data a candidate is able to commence may be a factor during the evaluation process.
4. Please can you advise if the role is within IR35? Outside of IR35
5. is this quoted rate excluding VAT or inclusive of VAT? The rate quoted excludes VAT
6. Is any Cache vendor related tools and utilities being used? We are not 100% sure we understand the question. The (NHAIS) system has been developed and maintained over a period of over 25 years. As such, the vast majority of the Cache code within the NHAIS system is old-style DSM/MSM code. So, for example, there is little usage within NHAIS of the likes of Cache Classes. The requirement here, therefore, is for a developer with significant experience in the development/maintenance of DSM/MSM-style Cache code.
Please let us know if this doesn't answer your question
7. We understand from the working arrangements section that you feel the specialist would need to be on site for 3 days a week when up to speed, for the right candidate would you consider predominantly remote working with travel when needed if they could demonstrate they could meet the requirements of the role via this arrangement? Initially, say for the first 3 months of the contract, we would expect the contractor to be on-site in Exeter full-time. After that, we would expect the contractor to be on-site for a minimum of 3 days per week, with the possibility of working off-site on other days. The minimum of 3 days per week after an initial period is non-negotiable.
8. Is Cache integrated with any other system? If yes, what are those? We don't fully understand the question., however, believe the answer is no.
9. What is the size/roles of existing team that this specialist work with and over next 12 months The existing team consists of 2.5 wtes. There is 1 wte Development Team Manager (who also acts as a Software Developer) and 1.5 wte software developers.
10. Any specific Cache feature that is being used extensively and would be expected from the Developer? As previously indicated, the system in question here is actually based on old-style DSM/MSM code, rather than Cache Object Script. So, the person in question here would be expected to be familiar with DSM/MSM Mumps, running in a Cache environment.
11. Will any other version's developer be considered as v5 seems more than 10 years old? Sorry, this was a mistake in the advertisement. The system is running under Cache 2007 (and not Cache 5). The version of Cache is not really important here; what is important is the fact that the code is essentially DSM/MSM Mumps code.
12. How much travel is expected to Leeds and external stakeholders such as NHSE and PHE? It is not anticipated that much travel will be required (if any). The person will be expected to work out of Exeter with perhaps a very limited need to travel/engage with stakeholders.
13. Is there any plan to upgrade to latest version? There are currently discussions taking place as to whether the system will be upgraded to a newer version of Cache (or to a different platform such as IRIS). This may or may not occur depending on how long the system is required to carry on operating before it is decommissioned, discussions with InterSystems, the costs of upgrading, etc.
