Will need to engage with members of the PNCS – Stakeholders, programs and projects. To deliver some of the DBA/design work, external stakeholder engagement should be expected.
To deliver some of the design work, external stakeholder engagement should be expected.
The specialist shall be responsible for the delivery of the design and specifications and completing the activities required to deliver the following:
• Oracle 12c migration, Golden Gate and Postgres Aurora - What the specialist will work on
- The specialist shall articulate specifications to a level that an implementation team can use, and refine these specifications with technical colleagues and delivery partners. Specialist expertise shall be available to consult with such as infrastructure and security architects. The designs are generally technical, but may involve some process-related design.

- Some meetings can be by conference call, but significant design meetings are expected to be face-to-face at a Home Office location or partner visit. Existing Subject Matter Experts located in Croydon or Hendon will provide most of the information on the database architect requirements.

- SC or ability to be SC cleared and may require NPPV3.

Skills and experience
Buyers will use the essential and nice-to-have skills and experience to help them evaluate suppliers’ technical competence.

- Demonstrable ability in the design of technical solutions for Database implementation by a third party within the last two years .
- Extensive experience in the use of database technologies Oracle/ SQL Server/ PostgreSQL and the manipulation tools / techniques that these encompass.
- Knowledge/experience in the migration of databases to Cloud within the last two years.
- Demonstrable evidence of Operating systems architecture/scripting: Windows/Linux/Python.
- At least 5 years’ experience of working as a DBA in a production environment.
- Proven experience in knowledge sharing and working in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Nice-to-have skills and experience

- An understanding of Police database systems and the complexities around the need for fast resolution of incidents and comprehensive investigations in an escalating environment.
- Knowledge of Mainframe Computing – Unix/Linux/BS2000.
- Knowledge/experience in the design, configuration, migration and upgrade of databases as part of a large project.
- Previous use of ITIL methodology for BAU activities.
