The post will be based almost entirely at a single site with minimal travel anticipated.

About the work

Who the specialist will work with
You will be a key member of the System Operating Authority, overseeing the integration of a bespoke network. You will work with the delivery organisation, DE&S, on a daily basis.
What the specialist will work on
• Lead on the Infrastructure and Logistics aspects of delivering a complex C2 system.
• Utilise strong documentation and problem solving skills to bring about efficient project delivery.
• Test, install and monitor new infrastructure services through to acceptance by Service Operations team
• Review all documentation to understand infrastructure requirements.
• Develop Operational Readiness Evaluation Plan for any new hardware.
• Conduct Operational Readiness Evaluation activities for uplift in Power, NER and rack space.
• Produce and manage a plan for delivery, successfully identify, document and manage project infrastructure (power/NER/rack-space) risks and issues daily.

Essential skills and experience
  • Demonstrable experience of working on a programme that has delivered or is delivering a classified strategic Command and Control system in a Military context.
  • Project Management qualification i.e. PRINCE2/APM
  • ITIL V.3 IT Service Delivery Management
  • 5 years of experience of the delivery of IT projects.
  • Working Knowledge of ITIL V.3 and how it is applied.
  • Working knowledge of JSP440, JSP 480, JSP604.
  • Ability to Lead a team.
  • Proficient in MS Project and the MS Office 2007
  • Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Knowledgeable of transition, upgrades, refresh projects in an Agile environment.
