- Who the specialist will work with
- You will be a key member of the System Operating Authority, overseeing the integration of a bespoke network. You will work with the delivery organisation, DE&S, on a daily basis.
- What the specialist will work on
-
On a daily basis:
• Be the principal reviewer of all technical documentation
• Assist in the development of service migration and co-existence planning
• Develop Test plans for IS services for Operational Readiness Evaluation and Service Transition
• Assist in the planning of Operational Readiness Evaluation activities;
• Develop deployment and recovery plans; System Operating Instructions and Build Scripts
• Assist with change-management activities
• Test, install and monitor new services through to acceptance by Service Operations team
• Prepare documentation and present progress reports to Project Delivery lead
• Control, Implement and Monitor Risks.

Skills and experience
Buyers will use the essential and nice-to-have skills and experience to help them evaluate suppliers’ technical competence.

- Demonstrable experience of working on a programme that has delivered or is delivering a classified strategic Command and Control system in a Military context.
- Demonstrable experience of working in a high pressure, conflicting priority environment that delivers equipment to units within Front Line Commands.
- Project Management qualification i.e. PRINCE2/APMP.
- MCP, MCITP, MSCA or MCSE in relevant Microsoft technologies would be advantageous.
- CISSP or CISMP equivalent experience.
- ITIL V.3 IT Service Delivery Management.
- Experience in project management of new IT systems.
- JSP440, JSP480, JSP604.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and associated Microsoft Server applications such as Exchange, Lync, System Center.
- Concepts of Server Operating Systems and Virtualisation.
- Detailed knowledge of networking and security.
- Detailed knowledge of any of the mentioned Microsoft products.
- Strong documentation and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills as the role will be primarily customer focused and will involve managing customer and stakeholder expectations.
- Nice-to-have skills and experience

- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Knowledgeable of transition, upgrades, refresh projects in an Agile environment.
