About the work

Why the work is being done
To migrate NHS General Practices to Cloud based Active Directory platform.
The scope of work include design, provision of migration approach and migration of some or all NHS General Practices onto a Cloud based Active Directory platform. The supplier will ensure that target architecture and platform is in line with NELCSU strategic architecture and standards.
Problem to be solved
Across the Kent and Medway majority of server platforms in GPs currently are Windows Server 2012.
Each GP operates its own independent network and authentication service – predominantly via a local Active Directory and a number of workgroups.

This is difficult and expensive to manage, support, and maintained

The team should include a Design Architect and a minimum of 2 Engineers with relevant experince

Further, it cannot support the ambition of CCGs and GPs to work together to improve the provision of clinical services.
Who the users are and what they need to do
Users in NHS General Practices are the focus, and they need the following.
1. Cloud based Active Directory offering centralised AD, file services, centralised data backup and rationalisation of applications.
2. Ability to report on leavers and inactive accounts.
3. Reliable, robust and scalable design and solution [allowing for growth] as the size and volumes of data sent/received will not be known.
