- Who the specialist will work with
- Working as part of a technical in-house team with responsibility for the development and maintenance of logistics data feeds to industry and other services. The team comprises of system designers, analysts, architects and data SMEs
- What the specialist will work on
- Working primarily in IBM Information Server 8.7 (may move to later version within contract period) DataStage, part of their Infosphere toolkit there is a need to develop and test against emerging requirements for business to business, data integration and data migration services. This will include new customers of existing services, new data source requirements and new delivery endpoints working with new and existing stakeholders within industry and internal to MoD.

- Working arrangements
- Five days a week on-site (to a maximum of 175 days in the 12 month period) working as part of a technical in-house team and reporting to the team leader who will allocate work priorities. DE&S IT will be provided. This post does not support remote working.

- SC Clearence is required prior to commencement of the contract

We reserve the right to extend for 6 months.
We will follow MOD T&S, however at the beginning of each SOW we will have a conversation with the winning supplier to understand the travel required. This position has been assessed against the Crown Commercial Services framework as being outside of IR35.

- Must have very strong understanding of SQL, including the execution and use of functions and stored procedures for Oracle, Informix, DB2 & Teradata DBMS (min 3 yrs experience) - 1%
- Must demontsrate they have strong data management and data handling skills, including experience in handling a wide variety of data types including BLOB, CLOB and unstructured data types - 1%
- Must demonstrate their ability to read and understand DataStage code, in particular Universe code & procedures and set application parameters - 2%
- Must be able to write and develop DataStage code (min 3 yrs experience) - 2%
- Must demonstrate their experience and understanding of Entity Relationship Diagrams and data mapping documentation - 1%
- Extensive experience in data integration techniques with DB2, Oracle, Informix, Teradata, SQL and Postgres dbms, and MQ & FTP (min 3 yrs exp) messaging & data transfer applications - 1%
- Must demonstrate in their response their knowledge of Architectural ETL patterns and processes - 1%
- Must demonstrate in their response their ability to perform Data Quality operations using QualityStage & Information Analyzer - 1%

- 1. Please could you advise the max day rate for this role?
- There is no maximum rate set and all rates will be considered
- 2. Will you sponsor SC Clearance if the candidate doesn't have it?
- The work will take place at a secure MOD site and SC clearance is required prior to commencement. The timescale for the project start date does not allow sufficient time for SC clearance to be obtained for any applicants that do not already hold it.
- 3. You mention working arrangements "5 days a week on-site, up to a max of 175 days? How would this would work in practice?
- The requirement is for 175 days during the 12 months. The timing of those days during that 12 month period will be mutually agreed with the successful applicant.
- 4. Will candidates be ruled out if they do not have SC clearance? Or will the client be prepared to put candidates through the clearance process?
