Who the specialist will work with A mixed team of civil servants and suppliers which will include Product Managers, Devops, data developers and testers. There will be close working with other data products teams and with partner teams on-boarding to the data platform.
What the specialist will work on The specialist will work as tech lead with a product and programme team of civil servants and suppliers who are building a shared platform for storing the department’s data.

The specialist will support the product team define the roadmap for the platform, advising on technical strategy, feasibility and complexity of approach.

The specialist will also engage tech leads from digital service teams advising on best practice in use of the platform.

Address where the work will take place Based in Croydon with some travel to headquarters in central London and occasionally to other Home Office locations where service teams are based.
Working arrangements The supplier is expected to supply a resource to work on site in Croydon within an agile team. We expect the supplier to be flexible. Off site and remote working can be accommodated, however due to security considerations this would need to be discussed.
Security clearance All staff must be SC cleared. We will ask bidders for details of key personnel, if successful the bidder will be asked for confirmation of security clearance or we will initiate clearance process.

18. What are the preferred technologies the candidate should have most experience in? We use Hortonworks Data Platform in AWS. However it's most important the candidate can be technology agnostic, helping the product team shape the business goals as well as technical direction. Experience in shared platforms using public cloud, and developing APIs and shared services for multiple business applications with a strong focus on security, performance and agility is what is required.
