Who the specialist will work with
The specialist will report to the Border Crossing lead Architect and will work closely with the Product Owner, Delivery Lead, Scrum Master,DevOps, Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Infrastructure Architects.
What the specialist will work on
Borders IT require a Security Architect to help deliver the Digital Services at the Border (DSAB) Programme. The work will focus on supporting the Border Crossing project which is delivering new border control software to the UK borders and a replacement for the current watchlisting systems. The project is being delivered using agile, uses cloud and physical infrastructure and handles sensitive material.

Work setup

Address where the work will take place
The specialist will be predominantly based at Home Office premises at Lunar House, Croydon, CR9 2BY, but may be required to attend Marsham Street, London, SW1; and MetroPoint , Croydon; Surrey; or other locations as necessary.
Working arrangements
The specialist is expected to alongside existing delivery teams focussed on specific outcomes. The specialist will conform to prevailing Home Office rules & procedures.
The specialist requires being physically on site Monday – Friday. Approximate hours are 08:00 – 18:00.

Expenses will conform to Home Office internal policies and will not be payable within the M25.
Security clearance
SC Security Clearance is required.

Additional terms and conditions
This role is deemed to be outside the scope of IR35 of the Intermediaries legislation. Candidates may be working towards obtaining SC clearance and must possess this by the latest start date. The HO may support the candidate with this process, but this must be in place by employment commencement. Candidates with DV Clearance have already undergone SC level checks will also be considered.

  • Defining Security Architecture for systems at UK-OFFICIAL and above (15%)
  • Development and delivery of secure systems at UK-OFFICIAL and above (15%)
  • Design of content inspection guard solutions (10%)
  • Experience of planning of the delivery of security solutions (5%)
  • Experience with physical network architecture (5%)
  • Experience with application security controls (2%)
  • Collaboration with security vendors to agree a product change roadmap (2%)
