About the work

Why the work is being done
The Council is upgrading the end user computing device in use and roll out is underway for laptops, mobile phones and meeting room devices. The team is required to complete these roll outs.
Problem to be solved
End users need to be migrated to new laptops, desktops or mobile phones so that they can continue to access and use IT systems.

It is estimated that 360 mobile phone and 160 laptop/desktop migrations will be required.

It is expected that a team of three will be required:

1x Technical project lead to oversee the technical side of the roll out
1x Mobile device analyst to migrate users to their new devices
1x Roll-out engineer to install and deploy new laptop/desktop devices.

Projects are planned and in progress with software and device procurement completed. Roll out is well tested and processes established for working safely during Covid response have been developed.
Existing team
The team will work with the existing IT Team to complete the work. There is not a requirement to provide a project manager for this work, this will be provided form elsewhere in the IT Team.

The IT Team for London Borough of Redbridge is based at Lynton House, Ilford.
Working arrangements
Whilst the majority of LBR staff are working remotely during the Covid response the delivery team will be expected to be at LBR sites for the duration of the project.

Skills and experience

Buyers will use the essential and nice-to-have skills and experience to help them evaluate suppliers’ technical competence.

Essential skills and experience
  • Have in depth knowledge of build task sequence, software deployment, PXE-boot.
  • Have administrator experience with InTune mobile device management, group policy and application deployment.
  • Have administrator experience of Samsung Knox MDM – admin experience, device enrolment, management and group policy.
  • Have exper knowledge of Microsoft products including windows 10 OS and security updates
  • Have expert knowledge of Lenovo hardware, including Laptops, mini-desktops and thin clients Think centre smart hub 500.
  • Have a technical background in Windows 10 roll-out and feature updates.
  • Have experience of undertaking device roll-outs in a Covid safe manner.
  • Have understanding of the Netloan Library systems
  • Have an understanding of the Deep Freeze device lock-down and refresh tools
  • Have experience of providing support to Android mobile phone users.
Nice-to-have skills and experience
Have experience of supporting end-users with Samsung A40e devices

We anticipate approximately 360 Android mobile phones and 160 windows devices.

Phone deployment will involve device handover to staff and will occur at Council offices.
