- Qualifications Wales seeks a Business Analyst to inform the design and delivery of new data collection systems and processes for an independent qualifications regulator for Wales, the purpose of which collection is to gather and analyse data for use strategically for the qualification system in Wales, for analysis and publications

- £600 per day including VAT (=£500 ex VAT). Travel and Subsistence payments are expected to be covered by the day rate whilst in Cardiff or Newport counties, but may be claimed when travelling outside of those areas

- A small project team, including the Head of Research, Head of ICT, Head of Procurement, Director Finance and Corporate Services.
- What the specialist will work on
- Scope: • Gathering and prioritised analysis of the requirements of internal systems and c.120 external stakeholders, mapped to user stories/journeys. • Analysis of practical (potentially strategic) requirements and business change implications for the organisation of new system. • Solutions evaluation. • Supporting in the procurement of development partners. To support project outputs: • Proposal for a data collection and publication schedule. • Technical understanding of likely IT solution (collection system, statistical analysis package, data warehousing capability). • Cost estimates for project development phase(s). • Assisting Procurement of development contract(s). • Early development of to-be business process and business change implications.
Work setup
- Address where the work will take place
- The project is based at: Qualifications Wales, Q2 Building, Pencarn Lane, Imperial Park, Coedkernew, Newport, NP10 8AR so the work will be there for a large proportion of time. However, some considerable travel will also be expected to visit with stakeholders throughout Wales.
- Working arrangements
- As far as possible, face-to-face working is encouraged, but the team operates within a high-tech environment and is accustomed to using skype technology to enable team meetings and discussion. Face-to-face working with stakeholders is essential. Attendance in person at Project Board meetings is preferable.
