Who the specialist will work with
The specialist will be required to work with internal technical and project management teams, other suppliers and external stakeholders.
What the specialist will work on
We require an application architect with cloud and security experience to continue Audit, Alerting and Data Access Controls design architecture for the functional service.

The specialist is expected to be a self-starter who can lead a team of technical staff to produce and deliver on detailed application designs. The individual will work with a range of internal and external technical stakeholders.

Working arrangements
5 days a week, based at the Home Office in Marsham Street / Croydon /Hendon Data Centre. Primarily based in Croydon.
Security clearance
A minimum of SC clearance is required – candidates must be cleared

Please note that DDAT Controls will apply for this opportunity:

• resource will be restricted to not charging more than 100 days in any consecutive 6 months or more than 200 days in a year;
• contractor day rates will be capped at £900 (exclusive of VAT) for delivery resources;
• SFIA level 5 and below will be used for delivery of a contract

  • Applications architecture background (java, json, xml)
  • API/Broker/Bus architecture/API gateways (Mulesoft, Axway, AWS) - REST API's
  • Building HL/LL designs
  • Expertise/experience working on security controls/mechanisms, transport protocols, IAM, Access Control (RBAC&ABAC)
  • Java Frameworks such as Hibernate, Camel; Message queueing (Eg. ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, MQSeries, MSMQ)
  • Databases (eg. PostgresSQL, MS SQL, Sybase T-SQL, Oracle PL/SQL)
  • ESB products (eg. Weblogic, Red Hat Fuse, JBoss)
  • Frontend technologies such as REACT
Nice-to-have skills and experience
  • Cloud technologies e.g. AWS/Azure
  • Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Toolsets e.g. confluence and JIRA

No, this is a new role.
3. Will you support security clearance?
As per the advert the successful candidate will have SC clearance and be ready to start work in February.
4. Would lapsed SC clearance be accepted? (within 5 years but past 12 months of last used).
Due to the start date lapsed clearance will not be considered for this opportunity. As per the advert the successful candidate will have valid SC clearance and be ready to start work in February.
5. Can you please confirm if the advertised max day rate is inclusive or exclusive of VAT.
The day rate cap is inclusive of fees and exclusive of VAT.
6. The opportunity details an expectation of a 5 day working week, but also caps 100 days over 6 months (26 weeks), which would indicate a 4 day working week is more appropriate. Would 1 day off-site, and 3 days on-site (4 days per week I total) be acceptable? Such an arrangement often helps the preparation of detailed design documents, while retaining a connection to the wider team.
Due to system access, onsite working is a must. We would be happy with a 4 day working week onsite due to the day cap over 6 months.
7. As the contract is restricted to 100 days within the 6 months, how will this work? Will the resource work a 4 day week for instance?
Further clarification will be given at the interview stage. As mentioned above candidates that have a preference to work a 4 day week will be considered for the role.
