- Who the specialist will work with
- The Agile Coach will be working with all individuals within the directorate including, Directors, Service Owners, Product Owners, Delivery Managers, User Researchers, UX, Software Engineering, Commercial and Finance.
- What the specialist will work on
- Working across the organisation to support the adoption and embedding of Agile practices and mind-set. Supporting teams to adopt SCRUM framework and understanding of agile methodologies. Supporting at a directorate, team and individual level working closely with Service Managers/Owners and Delivery Managers to identify and deliver coaching and training interventions. The coach will work with all 10 of NHSBSA Delivery Teams across a directorate of circa 120 people.

This role will sit outside of IR35, as the candidate would not hold a fixed office position.

Expenses to and from the Base Location, Stella House in Newcastle, are not eligible to claim. Any expenses outside of the Base Location must be agreed in advance with the NHSBSA and shall be in accordance with the NHSBSA’s policy for Travel and Subsistence.

- Must have a certified coaching qualification (ILM7 or equivalent). Please provide details of your qualification (2%)
- Demonstrate your deep understanding of different agile and lean approaches and supporting context, such as behaviours, governance, process and culture (5%)

- The role is onsite, it is expected that the specialist will work an average of one day per week and where required additional days with pre agreed outcomes.

- The organisation has been working following Agile practices for two years, with c10 delivery squads each at different levels of maturity. The role of the specialist will be to work with these squads and leaders to support adoption of Agile practices.

- The specialist will be measured through agreed outcomes which will be measured in various forms for example feedback from individuals, increased capability or confidence and observation of improvements

Can you confirm if the coach is expected to work 5 days a week or less? If they did less, they would be unable to coach all 120 people in the time allotted. - The specialist is expected to work between 1 and 2 days per week, it is not envisaged that the specialist would need to work with each individual member of the directorate, the specialist would be expected to coach at a leadership level, team level and directorate level. The directorate has a level of maturity in Agile, the specialist will help identify specific areas for improvements and intervene as agreed

- 27. If you look at 10 out of 15 questions asked by the suppliers, they all to do with "if there is an incumbent supplier", should this be filled in the "Early market engagement" field while placing the advert
- We have already taken on board the 'lesson learned' that this should be defined in the requirements.
- 28. I understood that maximum no of days work per week is 2 days. So is it just coaching the project teams on agile methodology instead of actually involving in the project. Please advise.
- The maximum number of days is expected to be between 1 and 2 days per week, the successful specialist will work across the directorate at a mixture of levels from individuals, teams and whole directorate. The directorate already has a strong capability in the adoption of agile methodology, the coach will work to continue to iterate this through specific interventions.
